Sensitron Smart P-2 Fixed Car Park Gas Detector Overview

The Sensitron Smart P-2 Gas Detection System is used to detect the presence of combustible and toxic gases in non-classified areas.

The Sensitron P-2 uses catalytic sensors to detect petrol vapours and electrochemical cells for the detection of CO and NO2 toxic gases in closed carparks and tunnels.

A combination of high traffic in underground car parks coupled with inadequate ventilation can cause toxic gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and petrol vapours to build up and can be extremely harmful to pedestrians in shared spaces. It is important to continuously monitor the level of toxic gases in these confined spaces by using a fixed car park gas detector to reduce or eliminate health and safety risks to people in closed car parks.

Sensitron SMART P-2 Car Park Multi-Gas Detection System with Extension Kit

Petrol vapours and NO2 are heavier gases than air and they tend to spread downward. For NO2 detection, the gas detector should be placed 30 cm from the floor to maximise the effectiveness of the detection.

Whereas the weight of carbon monoxide (CO) is similar to air. To detect CO in a carpark or tunnel, the gas detector should be placed at breathing level, approximately 1.50 m above the floor. The CO+PETROL VAPOUR detector comes with an extension kit to mount the Petrol Vapour sensor 30 cm off the ground and the CO head at nose level.

Correct detector positioning is essential to ensure prompt and accurate detection. (Figure 1)

The detector works autonomously and automatically. Once adequately connected, no further operations are required. The flashing green LED on the motherboard indicates the detector’s working condition. During normal status, the LED blinks with the frequency 1s ON - 1s OFF.
