Dexsil Lead Test Kits are Now Available at Air-Met Scientific
New Instant Lead Test Kit Available at Air-Met Scientific
Air-Met Scientific is pleased to introduce the Dexsil Lead Test Kits to our portfolio. Since the discontinuation of the popular 3M LeadCheck Test Kit, many users have been searching for a suitable replacement. Dexsil’s Lead Testing Kit provides an equivalent test to the 3M LeadCheck swabs with both products utilising the proven rhodizonate method for colourimetric lead testing.
Lead testing kits are used for field testing surfaces to indicate whether lead is present. They provide a simple method to immediately and accurately determine whether paint or other materials such as dust, metal alloys, soil, ceramics and more (depending on the product) contain lead without the need for laboratory analysis.
Lead exposure is highly hazardous to human health with acute exposure causing symptoms such as muscle pain and seizures, and long-term exposure resulting in a range of symptoms from loss of appetite to impaired growth and learning disabilities. Due to these dangers, it is essential that possible sources of exposure such as lead paint are identified and the appropriate actions are taken to mitigate or remove the risk.
Dexsil Instant Lead Test Kit
Instant colourimetric test for lead contamination on non-porous surfaces including paint.
The Refined Simplicity of Dexsil’s Instant Lead Test Kit
The Dexsil Lead Test Kit is designed for field testing of solid non-porous surfaces including painted surfaces, objects exposed to lead-containing dust, alloys with traces of lead and more. Similar to the discontinued 3M LeadCheck swabs, Dexsil’s lead testing swab comprises premeasured reagents in crushable ampules contained in a plastic tube and safety sleeve. The ampules are sealed and only released by crushing them before the swab is used to test, enabling an extensive shelf-life. Once the swab is applied to the surface following the testing procedure, a distinct pink colour will be visible on the swab or swabbed surface if lead is detected. In most cases, this colour change will occur near-instantaneously, however factors such as multiple layers of non-leaded paint or the solubility of the specific lead compound can delay development of the pink colour.
Dexsil’s Extensive Experience in Field Testing Products
Established in 1977, Dexsil are a USA based company that specialises in "taking sophisticated analysis and detection out of the laboratory and into the field". In the decades since their inception, Dexsil have been developing accurate, reliable and easy-to-use products for field testing to enable faster and less expensive chemical analysis.
